How Long
By Mark Nickell & Marie Winckler

How Long
Will the wave-carrying winds rushing inland
Bring their briny scent to mingle
With the sweet smells of the field
ln the blooming
It comes gently home to all
How Long
Will the answering echoes from mountains
High majestic giants waiting
Flashing colors from the sun
Be delivered
On the eyes of everyone
How Long
Can we laugh in the open
Dip our mouths in water pure
Feel it
Rushing cool through our bodies
Glistening past our playful limbs
How Long
Will our cities rise high to delight us
Will the music of our working
Fill the day until the night
When the silence
Sighs around us 'til the dawn
How Long
Can we laugh in the open
Dip our mouths in water pure
Feel it
Rushing cool through our bodies
Glistening past our playful limbs
How Long
Will the sun shining crisply on blue skies
Send our senses skipping gaily
As we walk the very edge
Thinking daily
We walk the end of time
Knowing daily
We walk the finest line
