Laurie Johnson (Larsen)

It is hard for me to write about Linda, as I feel such sorrow about letting our relationship lapse.  If you didn't know her well, you missed something!  She was soo funny, sooo creative. And I cannot think of her without hearing her wheezy laugh, and seeing her propped up against the many pillows she used to keep her airways open.  She had some pretty bad medical issues, starting with the asthma and all that medicinal steroid use from a young age. That impacted her whole life I think. Her relationship with "Charlie" was mind-blowing to some of us "innocents."  Oh boy, some of us learned a lot vicariously!  While eating potato chips and sour cream, her favorite snack.  Life took her to Colorado, where it eventually took me as well. She had a couple of failed marriages, and a couple of boys the ages of mine. Tragically, she lost one of them shortly before she died.

I still have letters that we exchanged, hers so well-written in her breezy, stream-of-consciousness style.  At some time we had minor falling out, and I did not contact her when I moved to Denver.  I hope that I have learned that life is too short to act- or not act- according to misunderstandings. I miss her. I wish she could be with us. I wish you all could have known her as some of us did. Rest in peace, you crazy girl.

I have to echo a great deal of what Laurie said.  She was a bridesmaid in my wedding.  We lived on the same floor of Middlebrook hall in rooms next door to each other.  My God the times we laughed ourselves silly which  would send her into an ashma attack.  I remember sitting on the third floor bathroom floor laughing like hyenas.  I was sent to stay with her while she got her breath back when she lost it during class one time. We thought we had done a great job of getting out of class.  Oh yes I so remember potato chips and sour cream, smoking cigarettes and going with her and Charlie once so he could pick up pot in the Selby Dale area.  I was horrified but of course in this day and age it would not be a big deal but it sure was then. Lots of memories and oh my goodness I miss her.  Soo many memories.  RIP dear friend
